It made me wonder if this is where I'm going wrong in the dating game — the kind of wrong which has lead to me landing a single, sad snog all year I KNOW, right? Because I haven't got a favourite band, or a song that always gets me on the dance floor, or an album I listen to in times of trouble. I don't go to gigs or festivals or eagerly await the next album by obscure bands called things like Garfunkle's Bicycle. When I recently tried online dating for the first time, I was faced with a swathe of men defined by their musical tastes. Perhaps it's genetic. Admitting I don't like music very much is tricky, because it's like saying you hate puppies — what kind of cruel, heartless monster doesn't have a break-up single they sob their hearts out to, or a favourite love song earmarked for their first dance? However, now I'm starting to think it's a silly idea. I'm 21 and never really been out to a bar or seen local live music before, so I don't know i it's all a silly idea to try and attempt to meet someone there. My idea is that when I walk up to the bar, I'll just be chatty and talk about the weather or something. Is it a good idea?
So I'm single and I'm sick of online dating. I've just convinced my friend to see some live music at my local bar this weekend.
