Dating southern highlands - phrase

The northern highlands of the Nilgiri Block are characterized by metagabbros with pyroxenite inlayers. A two-pyroxene granulite zone acts as a transition between the metagabbros and charnockites, which are exposed in the central and southern part of the Nilgiri highlands. In the charnockites, composite rutile—ilmenite grains are the dominant oxide assemblage. In the two-pyroxene granulites, hemo-ilmenite—magnetite is dominant with coexisting rutile—ilmenite composite grains in a few samples in the vicinity of the boundary with the charnockites. In the metagabbros, hemo-ilmenite—magnetite is the dominant oxide assemblage. The principal sulphide mineral in the charnockite is pyrrhotite with minor pyrite—chalcopyrite exsolution lamellae or blebs. In the two-pyroxene granulites and the metagabbros, the principal sulphide assemblage consists of discrete pyrite grains with magnetite rims and pyrite—pyrrhotite—chalcocopyrite associations. From these observations, a specific oxidation trend is seen. dating southern highlands Dating southern highlands dating southern highlands

Chronology of the Jafr Prehistory The top-priority issue of the Badia archaeology in the southern Levant is to establish a chronological framework for seriating various features dotted in arid peripheries. The Jafr Basin sites in southern Jordan provide insights into the issue.

Introduction

Reviewing the previous investigation results, this paper presents a tentative chronology of the Jafr pastoral prehistory and protohistory and, on this base, briefly discusses the process of pastoral nomadization in the basin and its surrounding areas. This paper is a revised version of our oral presentation at the Wadi Musa workshop held on June We would like to dating southern highlands our gratitude to the two organizers of the meeting, W. Abu-Azizeh and M. It was our great pleasure that we had a very close and meaningful exchange of views with many colleagues who share the same interest. Our thanks also go to T. Adachi who helped us to produce some of the illustrations and G.

Rollefson who suggested some of the references. This is especially the case when one tries to trace the process of pastoral nomadization. Any discussion does not make sense or at least lacks persuasiveness, cating it is based on a chronological perspective on the five millennia spanning from the Souther Neolithic B hereafter PPNB when sheep and goats were first domesticated, through the Pre-Pottery Neolithic C and the Late Neolithic hereafter PPNC and LN, respectively when pastoral infiltration into arid peripheries was supposedly accelerated, to the Early Dating southern highlands Gighlands hereafter EBA or EB when full-fledged nomadic go here is thought to have been established.

Even when one takes an anthropological approach to the issue, it is difficult for him or her to develop a convincing argument without an adequate understanding of the cultural sequence during the key five millennia.

Similar attempts have been made in the eastern and southern parts of the Arabian Peninsula as well 5. These dating southern highlands perspectives have enabled us to get a glimpse into the process of the far-reaching dating southern highlands reorganization that involved the whole range of the southern Levant in the early Holocene. We would have to say, however, that they are still too patchy to formulate an overall picture of the significant episode. The chronology of eastern Jordan, for example, puts emphasis on the origin of Neolithic pastoral adaptation but still lacks specifics in terms of the post-Neolithic development. Viewed in this light, we can restate the first sentence as follows: the top-priority issue of the south Levantine Badia archaeology is to construct a comprehensive local chronology covering the whole time range of the key millennia.
